Newsletter 10 May 2019
Our children have settled into playgroup lovely this week and our new starters and their families are doing fantastic.
This week has been miserable weather wise but that has not stopped the children from playing outside. We have enjoyed playing with water using watering cans to measure and pour as well as jumping in muddy puddles. The ladies have spoilt us with warm water and bubbles so our little hands don’t get cold. Can we please remember to bring spare clothes and wellies with you as we have limited spares especially if the rain is a weeklong event like this week.
Parental forms have been sent out this week so your child’s keyworker and yourselves are able to share special moments of your child’s development. We ask if you could possibly tick the statements on your child’s checklist, of statements that they capable of doing at home and return to setting, signed as soon as possible. This is so that your child’s keyworker is able to mark off their development on their tracking sheets with the use of parental knowledge. Thank you.
Inside the children have loved exploring smelly playdough and experimented with different scents and textures. Ask your child what they have used today in their playdough.
Thank you to those that have returned their school leavers trip replies and monies. There are still some outstanding can we ensure that they are in setting promptly so that we can organise the trip and staff accordingly.
Polite reminder: as we are in the process of organising our annual summer BBQ we ask if any parents are able to donate raffle and tombola prizes. Maybe some of you can speak to your employers and drum up some support to help raise funds for the preschool. As a setting we have sent out letters to businesses in and around Selby to hope they are willing to support Headstart.
If any parents have any spare clothes that they no longer need could they be so kindly to donate to Headstart. Our stocks are very low at the moment. Thank you. Also can we remember that children need spare clothes and wellies in their bags. We do get wet and dirty and children often need changing, sometimes several times a day.
Dates for your diary: We will be breaking up for the half term on Friday 24th May at 3pm and return Monday 3rd June at 9am for a seven week term.
Friday 17th May is our annual fundraise event, we hope to see as many of you there as possible. This year will be different to others as we are not asking for entrance fees this time but ask if you could contribute to help raise funds towards preschool. There will be Mr Roast and a Tea, coffee, ice-cream and toasties cart to feed our bellies for a small fee. We will also have several stalls and games for all to play and purchase from. Stalls still available for hire at £10 a pitch if you would like to help support Headstart, Please ask for Amanda or we can pass on your details. Thank you.
Thank you for helping the local autistic school by purchasing their Easter treats. They have kindly donated £17 towards Headstart’s fundraising efforts as well as raising funds for themselves.
