Newsletter 14 June 2019

Weather has been terrible this week with it raining daily. This has not stopped us getting outside in the little village and making the most of the fresh air. We have loved washing cars, playing in the water and creating our own outside village. The sheds have turned into vets; home-corner, occupations, music and reading sheds and the children have enjoyed having their inputs into what goes inside. Inside we have been exploring what animals we can find in the grass, making special surprises and buying and selling in our own shop (I wouldn’t advise going there its really expensive!! Small toys costing $800).

Lost property is currently been stored on the shelf in the cloakroom. We ask if you could have a look through to see if your child has any belongings they may have left over this term.

Photo day was a huge hit with the children with most of them smiling and posing for the camera. There were some amazing photos taken. All photos are now live, so please head over to Andrea Turvey’s website and have a look; they are there to be purchased and will get delivered to the setting. Her next visit is due on the 23rd October and the theme will be of a wintery/Christmas nature, with the session open for all children and siblings in and out of session to attend. This is great timing for those to start Christmas shopping with purchasing personal photographs to place in those stockings.

Funding sheets have been sent out for those staying in September so we can secure funding for your child’s sessions. Please fill in and return to setting as soon as possible.

We have been given dates and times for the children’s transitional visits to Longman’s Hill, they are as follows:

Tuesday 18th June 9:15am – 10am. (Headstart doors will open at 10:20am for children to enter setting ).

Tuesday 25th June 11:30am – 12:15pm. (Headstart doors will open at 11:15am for children to leave and re-open after lunch at 1pm for children to return to setting. Please note no dinner session will be available on this day).

Tuesday 2nd July 2pm – 2:30pm. (Headstart doors will open at 1:45pm for children to leave with no return).

Wednesday 10th July 1:30pm – 2:30pm. (Headstart doors will open at 1:15pm with no return. Please note dinner session available on this day).

These sessions are not compulsory but set up to give your child the best possible opportunity to make the transition from preschool to school life. Please speak to Monika or Kirsty if you have questions on these transitional visits.

Dates for your diary: the term will now run up until Friday 19th July 2019. Friday 19th July is our last session for all children, with the school leavers enjoying their leaver’s trip to Piglets on this day and the remaining children having a fun day. This will also be Kirsty’s last day before starting maternity.

Polite reminder: Brayton Headstart is a NUT FREE setting. Can we refrain from putting anything containing nuts in pack ups, including chocolate spread and peanut butter. We have a child in setting that is severely allergic to nuts and is in use of an EPI pen due to serious risk of anaphylactic shock. Any pack ups that contain nuts will be disposed of due to the serious nature of the risk to the child.

On Friday 28th June 2019 we say goodbye to our student Emily. She has been with us for the year and made a huge impression on both the children and the staff. We want to wish her well in her studies and hope that in time she is able to come back to us. She has been such an asset to the setting and will be missed.

Polite reminder: could we be mindful of pushchairs in the cloakroom as it does get over crowded. Could you please leave pushchairs outside at drop off and collection time.

As the weather is due to be poor again next week, can we please make sure we have spare clothes and wellies for our children.
