Newsletter 15 February 2019
We have had a lovely week once again. We have been busy decorating love-heart biscuits. Some children have made pictures, cards for Valentine’s Day. We can not force or make a child take part in an activity they do not wish to do. We hope you all have been able to bring a little something home?
We have decorated biscuits on top of the heart shaped ones, continued to explore and challenge our minds with maths. We have been playing with a lot of red playdoh! Some children have also been practising their fine-skills hand-eye -co-ordination by using tweezers or chopsticks to challenge picking up coloured spaghetti! Some children have even been practising their scissor skill action! Today, the children are making a robot! Please have a look on Facebook for the pictures of this week and our famous robot.
Next week is our last week before we break up, but when we return on Monday 4th March, we will be heading straight into World Book Week. We are going to send out from next week a sponsored read form. We are asking if your child could be sponsored by family to read as many books as they can with parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles, aunties…. If they could collect their money and bring the forms back to us by Friday 8th March, we can see who has collected the most money and will win a prize. We do this every year and this has always been a popular charity fund raise for us. This is also a good chance for you to spend time with your children and listen to their stories, language and imagination!
On Thursday 7th March is World Book Day. We are asking for your child to dress in their favourite book character and bring along their book so we can all share their stories. Please don’t go out spending money in shops for costumes… a simple face paint, or hat, or top will suffice! We are asking to donations for this day also.
Please remember, the sponsored read and dress up day is all optional and not forced! We ask for fund raising as this helps to keep us as a preschool running to purchase new resources for your children. We are in the process of re-vamping the inside room as this was a request from the children.
As we like to prepare, we are asking for cardboard egg cartons and empty kitchen rolls. Please could you bear us in mind before throwing them out…. These will be used for an activity we have planned coming up.
On Friday the 8th March, 1pm – 3pm at Selby North Children’s centre on Flaxley Road, there will be a drop-in for parents to seek advice you may have on your child regarding Communication and Interaction. Two highly trained consultants will be there to have a chat with you. One is a Speech, Language and Communication Needs; and the other specialises in Autism. Its free and no appointments needed. You and/or your children are welcome there.
Next week is out last week before we break up for half term week
Have an amazing weekend and we shall see you all next week.
