Newsletter 21 June 2019
Another mixed bag weather wise this week but that has not stopped us playing outside come rain or shine. We have been between gardens due to the rain but the children have made the most of it by having stories in the boat and adding the stormy weather to their role play. The children have been very physical with exploring the way in which we can move, running, climbing, crawling and dancing. Inside we have made pizza’s and discussed our favourite foods whilst promoting self-care.
Lost property is currently been stored on the shelf in the cloakroom. We ask if you could have a look through to see if your child has any belongings they may have left over this term if not these will be donated to our spare clothes collection or to charity as you can respect we cannot keep these for the foreseeable. Thank you.
Funding sheets have been sent out for those staying in September so we can secure funding for your child’s sessions. Please fill in and return to setting as soon as possible. Also could you reconfirm codes for the extended hours you are using in setting as without this code you are liable to pay for the extended hours used.
We have been given dates and times for the children’s transitional visits to Longman’s Hill, they are as follows:
Tuesday 25th June 11:30am – 12:15pm. (Headstart doors will open at 11:15am for children to leave and re-open after lunch at 1pm for children to return to setting. Please note no dinner session will be available on this day).
Tuesday 2nd July 2pm – 2:30pm. (Headstart doors will open at 1:45pm for children to leave with no return).
Wednesday 10th July 1:30pm – 2:30pm. (Headstart doors will open at 1:15pm with no return. Please note dinner session available on this day).
These sessions are not compulsory but set up to give your child the best possible opportunity to make the transition from preschool to school life. Please speak to Monika or Kirsty if you have questions on these transitional visits.
Dates for your diary: the term will now run up until Friday 19th July 2019. Friday 19th July is our last session for all children, with the school leavers enjoying their leaver’s trip to Piglets on this day and the remaining children having a fun day. This will also be Kirsty’s last day before starting maternity.
Polite reminder: Brayton Headstart is a NUT FREE setting. Can we refrain from putting anything containing nuts in pack ups, including chocolate spread and peanut butter. We have a child in setting that is severely allergic to nuts and is in use of an EPI pen due to serious risk of anaphylactic shock. Any pack ups that contain nuts will be disposed of due to the serious nature of the risk to the child.
On Friday 28th June 2019 we say goodbye to our student Emily. She has been with us for the year and made a huge impression on both the children and the staff. We want to wish her well in her studies and hope that in time she is able to come back to us. She has been such an asset to the setting and will be missed.
St Mary’s school will be holding their transition day on Wednesday 26th June 2019 for our school leavers. The times will be from 11:00am until 1:00pm. If your child is in session we will open the doors at 10:45am for collection and re-open doors at 1:15pm. This is to ensure a safe transition from setting to school. Please speak to Monika or Kirsty if you will be taking your child out that day or if you decide to keep your child home and absent from their session here at Headstart. Thank you.
The registers are looking extremely healthy for the academic year 2019-2020 and we encourage those that are hoping for extra sessions come September and the following year to book now as spaces are limited. Please feel free to speak to Monika or Kirsty if you are wanting to extend any sessions so we can try and accommodate and prioritise those that are already in setting.
